I’m Delilah
Hi, I’m Delilah Gillming
I am a woman of enduring faith in God which is the foundation of all I do. My purpose in life is to bring glory to God. I believe God puts me where I am needed and can serve Him best. Not long ago, God placed me in a unique position to lovingly care for my beloved aunt and uncle as they faced a challenging health crisis. As the health crisis worsened, this beautiful couple faced leaving their hometown to be closer to medical care and family. God put my years of planning, coordinating, and managing projects to good use as I became heavily involved in the process. My cousins and I faced multiple challenges but we saw God’s hand at work in everything. I became a tenacious defender of the weak, a gentle encourager of the brokenhearted and a whirlwind of productivity as I and my cousins sought the best living environment for them. I was honored to help them find a new home where they could focus on what made them happy. Now I seek to help others find the best place for them.
Elaia
If the word seems foreign to you it’s probably because it is. Elaia is the Greek word for olive. Olive? That seems like a strange name until you look at olives or rather olive trees especially in relation to seniors.
Olive trees have some unique properties that make them standout.
- An olive tree can live to be 1,000 years old and still produce fruit.
- Olive branches are gnarly, bent and hollow.
- Hollow olive trees can still produce fruit.
- Olive trees are carefully tended and prized.
- The wood from olive trees is multicolored and was used to construct Solomon’s Temple. Because the trees are so valuable their wood is not used for common construction but only for special decoration.
There are many similarities between the olive tree and seniors. Seniors have lived a long life. Although our physical lifespan can’t compare to that of an olive tree, the legacy and heritage we leave behind can be felt for generations to come. Often, seniors are bent with age, their hands stiffened to the point they seem gnarly but don’t let that fool you. They can still produce fruit with the wisdom they impart. This where some of the differences start to vary. At Elaia, we believe changes are in needed.
Our culture today often fails to recognize the great value our seniors have.
They should be treasured, receive tender care and support.
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They Shall still bear fruit in old age they shall be fresh and flourishing.
Psalm 92:13-1
