Occasionally I come across a hidden “treasure” in a basement, attic, or garage that just needs a little help to sign again. It is a joy and sometimes a challenge to spruce up these gems. Take a look at some of the most recent restored, revived and repurposed projects.
Vintage Stereo Cabinet to Coffee Bar
This lovely stereo cabinet was hiding in a dark corner of my aunt’s basement. My cousin was not too excited to help me carry it up the steep, narrow stairs. I convinced him it was worth it though. As we slowly inched up the steps, I began envisioning the piece restained with a high gloss and new modern fabric to hold my photo albums. However, my plans changed as the project went along and it became a coffee bar for my mom. She prefers flowers to my choice of modern fabric. Since it now sits in her dining room, we went with her favorite print.
My Little Office Desk
I actually found this adorable desk on a garage sale. This was one of my first refinishing projects. After searching Pinterest for ideas, I settled on the grey paint and stained top. It now sits in my redesigned office and is serving me well. My favorite part is the drawer pulls.
Keep the Memory Alive
One of my favorite thing to do with little bits of family heirlooms is to create a memory box. These can be any size you need for the number of items you have. You can add a story to the box so it becomes memorable for the next generation. A creative memory box can be a unique conversation starter decor for your home.
